Terms of Service

Last updated: June 8, 2026

1. The agreement

These Terms govern your use of The Friction Network (“Friction”, “we”, “the service”), available at thefrictionnetwork.tv and through our mobile and TV apps. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

You must be at least 13 years old to use the service. If you are under 18 you also need consent from a parent or legal guardian.

2. The service

Friction is a subscription streaming network. The catalog includes original and licensed films, series, game shows, reality TV, podcasts, and music videos. The catalog changes over time as licenses begin, end, or rotate.

We do our best to keep the service available 24/7 but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Planned maintenance, third-party outages, regional internet issues, and force majeure events may temporarily affect availability.

3. Your account

  • You are responsible for the activity on your account and for keeping your login credentials secure.
  • Don’t share your account with anyone outside your household. Concurrent stream limits may apply per plan.
  • Don’t use someone else’s account or impersonate anyone.
  • If you believe your account has been compromised, contact support immediately.

4. Subscriptions and billing

  • The service is billed on a recurring basis (monthly or annual). Payment is processed by Stripe.
  • Subscriptions auto-renew until you cancel. We charge the payment method on file at the start of each renewal period.
  • You can cancel any time from your account settings or by clicking the manage-billing link in any of our emails. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period; you retain access until then.
  • Prices are shown at sign-up and on the pricing page. We may change prices with at least 30 days’ notice; if you don’t agree to a new price, you can cancel before it takes effect.
  • Refunds are not provided for partial periods except where required by law.
  • Promotional credits and free trials, if offered, are governed by the terms shown at the offer.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Copy, redistribute, publicly perform, modify, or create derivative works of any content streamed through the service.
  • Circumvent DRM, signed playback tokens, watermarking, or any other access control we use.
  • Use bots, scrapers, or automated tools to access the service except as explicitly authorized by a robots.txt or API agreement.
  • Resell, rent, or sublicense access to the service.
  • Use the service to harass, defame, or harm other people.
  • Violate any law in your jurisdiction.

Violations may result in suspension or termination of your account without refund.

6. Content and intellectual property

All content available on the service is owned by Friction or our licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Your subscription grants you a personal, limited, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to stream the content for your own non-commercial use. No other rights are granted.

The Friction Network name, logo, and visual identity are our trademarks. You may not use them without our written permission.

7. Filmmakers and creators

If you upload content to Friction as a credited filmmaker, showrunner, podcaster, or musician, you represent that you have all rights necessary to grant Friction a worldwide, royalty-free license to host, transcode, stream, and promote the content on the platform for the term of our content agreement. Royalty terms are governed by a separate agreement with you.

8. Termination

You may cancel your subscription and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, if we are legally required to, or if we discontinue the service. We will give reasonable notice when possible.

9. Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Friction disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Friction’s total liability arising out of or in connection with the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid Friction in the 12 months preceding the claim or (b) $100. In no event will Friction be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the current version. Material changes will be announced by email to subscribers and posted in the app at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after the effective date means you accept the new Terms.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.
